Howto Install IIS 6.0 in XP pro without CD.

Tue, Jan 15, 2008

Windows, Windows XP

Took a little bit to figure this one out. But what you need to do is goto

add and remove programs -> add and remove windows componants

Then select Internet Information Services (IIS) and hit next.

It will then ask you to insert your windows sp2 cd. Instead download SP2 from here

DOWNLOAD HERE

Run WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe, it will extract to the C drive somewhere, don’t continue with the SP install, go back to the IIS install and point it to the i386 directory that was extracted. Mine was c:\da47c84ccc2a2079974a39\i386\ , it will find some of the dll files there. Then it will pop up looking for more point it too c:\da47c84ccc2a2079974a39\i386\ip\ now and it will find the reast, and your done.

    Dear Buddy,

You can not install iis 6 on xp professional, it works only with windows server 2003. But if you have 64 bit O/S of xp Pro. then you can go with it…..
